Buckley’s Story Awarded Certificate of Excellence

I’m very excited that Buckley’s Story was awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the International Cat Writers Association (CWA)!  This makes the book a finalist for the coveted Muse Medallion Award, which will be awarded at the association’s annual conference in November.

Each year, the CWA offers corporate-sponsored special awards of $500 to $1,000 as well as its own Muse Medallions™ to winners in approximately 50 writing and graphic arts categories.  “This contest showcases the very best in the feline field of professional writers, broadcasters, photographers and graphic artists,” says Nancy Marano, contest chair.

I thoroughly enjoyed last year’s conference and especially the awards dinner, which was sort of like the CWA’s version of the Oscars.  Since I hadn’t entered anything in the competition last year, I was relaxed throughout the evening.  I suspect that this year, I’ll be just a little bit anxious and nervous – maybe on a small scale, I’ll understand what Oscar nominees feel like?  At any rate, as they say, “it’s an honor to be a finalist!”.

The International Cat Writers Association was founded in 1992 and is dedicated to providing news, information, and education on all aspects of cat care and welfare, as well as improving the quality of writing about cats. CWA provides members with networking opportunities and encourages professionalism and communication among cat writers, photographers, artists, editors and broadcasters.

Congratulations Ingrid! How exciting! Yes it will be just like the Oscars. Remember when you walk the red carpet, the press will ask you what designer you’re wearing!! ;)
