It’s been a while since I got myself in trouble, but you knew it was only going to be a question of time. Some of you may remember my stink bug adventure from back in October. Yup, you guessed it. I found another one of those creepy little bugs. We had some really warm weather here last week, so maybe he thought it was safe to come out. Little did he know that not only would he have to deal with SuperKitten (aka, me!), he also had to deal with AvengerWoman (Mom).

See, when Mom saw me play with the stink bug, she went ballistic. I guess she still remembered how sick I got after I ate the last one, and she didn’t want that to happen again. She grabbed the bug out from under my nose! I was only playing with him, I wasn’t about to eat him. I’m smarter than that! I remember how awful that first one tasted! I was just having fun!

A little while later, I noticed an awful smell right where I had been playing with him. I scratched on the carpet and tried to cover it, but it wouldn’t go away. Mom said I must have squished him just enough to release some of the foul smell. She ended up spraying the area with something that magically took the horrible smell away (Ingrid’s note: I used NOse Offense, our go to odor remover. Yes, it even works on stink bugs.)

That was a close one, huh?

  1. Paul: I have a kitten and Tigger is his name. He has the uncanny of sensing out Stink Bugs. He’ll be laying on my lap asleep and suddenly he’ll fly off of my lap and “point” out a Stink Bug. I don’t is anyone else has a cat like this, but my question is: What triggers this action. We don’t hear them, not smell them. It is a mystery to us.

  2. My goodness Ruby… so much trouble for a little kitty to get into!! Our Mom gets a bit nutty when we find bugs too – we have roaches in Florida and they are cruncy. We don’t eat them, but Mom gets upset nonetheless… At least they don’t smell! Happy Holidays to you, Allegra, and your Mom!

  3. Oh Ruby it’s good that your Mom got that stinky old bug away from you before it had a chance to get its stinkiness on you!!! We haven’t seen any of those things thank heavens – that’s not a very FUN Christmas present for sure!

  4. Ruby, we sure are glad you didn’t eat that silly stink bug again. But bugs are fun to play with, for sure. We have those stink bugs around here but there are so many other bugs especially grasshoppers, that we don’t bother the stink bugs.
We sure hope all of you have a really good Christmas.

    • I don’t think they’ve made it as far south as you are yet, Max, but hardy bugs that they are, I wouldn’t be suprised if you eventually got to see them there as well!
