Today, my heart is heavy with worry for everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma. I have a lot of friends in Florida, and South Florida in particular has always had a special place in my heart. Some of my friends have evacuated, others are staying put. I know I won’t breathe easy until I’ve heard from all of them that they’re safe.

I tried to find a quote that would be appropriate for today, and I felt that Maya Angelou’s words were the closest I could come. To me, today, it means that while there’s not much I can do today beyond keeping my friends in my thoughts and prayers, going forward, I can try to help in whatever way I can. Just like the people and animals affected by Hurricane Harvey, Florida’s pets and people will need our help for a long time to come after the storm passes.

If you’re in the path of the storm, please, be safe!

I will publish more information on how you can help animals affected by Irma in the next few days.

  1. These 2 weather tragedies – Harvey and Irma – have touched many. I have lived in Naples, and have friends in Ft Myers, so thinking and praying for them. And – the earthquake in Mexico – Wow – one thing on top of another. A time for reflection today on 9/11. Never forget. We can always do something – Donate.

  2. I have several friends in Florida too who didn’t leave. I have been a nervous wreck worrying about them too. At this point, all we can do is pray for their safety.
