As I’m mourning my beautiful little girl, the memories keep flooding in. Some make me cry, some make me smile, and every single one is precious. I’ll periodically share some of these memories so you can take a trip down memory lane with me.

The photo above goes back to October of 2014. I was watching TV when all of a sudden, I noticed both girls on one of the end tables. They were utterly fascinated by a bug under the lampshade. I was thoroughly entertained watching them try to catch the bug – I don’t know who had more fun: the girls or me! The level of teamwork they displayed was remarkable; I swear I could hear them strategize on how to best approach this hunt.

10 Comments on Remembering Ruby: That Time When Ruby and Allegra Had a Bug Hunting Adventure

  1. Ah Ingrid, this is hilarious, and written a year or so before I found this amazing blog – I did read many of the previous post but can’t seem to remember having read this before.
I wish you and Allegra a nice Easter weekend, although it must be a strange one both missing sweet Ruby and then all this chaos in the world. We are just coping and trying to entertain us, not being able to meet friends or family.

    • I hope you have the best possible Easter weekend, Maria, given the surreal circumstances we all find ourselves in. Be safe and stay healthy!

  2. Isn’t it amazing how cats can do things in unison. Or telepathic.

I enjoy when you share a Ruby memory. Don’t stop sharing.

  3. I let the kitties out on the enclosed lanai first thing in the morning. If I notice them running to a certain spot, I have to watch them. It’s OK to watch a critter, but I just can’t let them maul a tiny frog or lizard because that’s cruel. So, I get their attention on something else, and quickly grab up the critter and let it outside. OK. Let me tell the honest truth, I grab my husband to get the critter and let it out because it gives me the creeps to touch them! 🙂

  4. They are so cute when they become hunters. A couple of weeks ago a little gecko got inside the house and Kiki was the one to spot it. She shot off the bed really fast that made me think she was about to get sick. I turned the light on and found her in the other bedroom crouched over the little guy. I was able to cup him and throw him back outside but he did lose his little tail in the hallway. Lulu didn’t quite know what to do and Pele had hid in another room. Too much excitement for my old girl.

  5. It is so hard to lose a beautiful friend like Ruby- so wonderful that she and Allegra had these joint adventures!
