cat-on-cable-box

Not a day has gone by since Ruby passed away that I haven’t thought of my little girl. Some memories make me cry, some make me smile, and every single one is precious. I’ll periodically share some of these memories so you can take a trip down memory lane with me.

I thought of today’s memory when I installed my new Fire TV Stick (affiliate link*) yesterday, thinking how much Ruby would have loved to “help” me. Of course, she probably would have been rather disappointed that the Fire TV Stick would have been of absolutely no use to her, given how small it is compared to a nice, warm cable box!

Last summer, I had to replace our cable box, or rather, cat bed, as Ruby thought of it. Click here to read her account of how she was instrumental in making sure I did everything right.

10 Comments on Remembering Ruby: That Time When Ruby Helped Me Install the Cable Box

  1. I gave up my cable box, and had to clean off all the cat hairs put there by a foster who passed away this year, beforehand…My cats wish my flat screen tv and monitor would go away, and I would bring back my old monitor and old tv, which provided a warm bed, too.

  2. Yeah, Kasey has been gone 7 years, now, hard to believe but I still think about her, a lot. I had known for 10 years her since she was was basically a kitten. Brought her home at about 10 years old in 2008. I like to think that I made the last 1/3 of her life the best. She was quite unique, and I still miss her.

  3. Aww, such heart-warming memories, but they do leave a lump in my throat. My Zoe uses the cable box as her bed too. I sometimes complain when I have to clean off the cat hairs, but I try to remind myself that one day, when she’s gone, it will be all too clean.

  4. Oh, Ingrid! I remember this article when you wrote it last year. I have to add that our kitty, Katie, loves to sit on top of the cable box in hubby’s TV room. She knows to go in there no later than 7 pm, because my hubby doles out treats to her and our kitty, Baron promptly at 7:30 pm. It’s our Tortie, Sophie, that does not care for treats at all. It’s amazing how cats know the drill and can almost tell time.

Keep your memories of sweet Ruby close to your heart.

  5. Sweet sweet Ruby! So cute and entertaining.. We all miss her, but enjoy seeing her in pics and stories..

  6. This reminded me of a cat my ex and I had. We were installing cables in the basement ceiling from one end to the other. It didn’t take us too long to figure out an easy way to do it. We popped 2 tiles out me on one end b/f on the other (w/cat). We tried cable to her collar, put her in the ceiling, I called her from the other end and she came ‘arunnin. Success!!

  7. My Sammy was always the cable guy’s assistant. When he passed I never thought I’d be able to love again. My sweet Dawn and Winston haven’t replaced him – he can’t be replaced – but they waited until I could love ’em right and today – I can’t do without these two. Sammy’s photos are all 9over the house (so are pix of all my past and present sweeties). One was a social greeter, another kept watch from afar, and another always told me when it was feeding time. I love(d) them all. Thanks for the memory of Ruby.
