Feeling discomfort is part of life. Sometimes, you’re just going to feel out of sorts, weighed down, or just physically or emotionally “off.” Our inclination usually is to try anything and everything to get rid of discomfort. We either try to avoid uncomfortable situation, or we use food, drinks or medication to get rid of it.

Instead of running from that uncomfortable feeling, consider leaning into. Allow yourself to feel the discomfort and see whether there’s a message for you in it.

If you need a little help doing that, I can highly recommend a series of recent meditations featured on the Womens Meditation Network. Some of the meditations are available for free, and she offers several tiers of subscriptions. I’ve had her premium subscription for the past several months, and I love it. I consider those $20 a month an in investment in self-care, and starting my day with these meditations has really shifted my energy in a big way.

Cats already know how to quickly work through any discomfort they may be feeling – they simply stretch, release, maybe take a nap, and get on with life.

5 Comments on Sunday Quotes: Discomfort

  1. The feeling of discomfort for most everything in life can bring most people down to a level of hurt, pain, sadness, depression, and so forth. But in order to keep living, a person must learn to adjust their mind into a state of acceptance. Praying and hoping that the discomfort will ease or it’ll pass, so as, to start living again with some normalcy. Life is life, whatever it is, and discomfort does make you stronger if you manage to walk thru the fire.

  2. I read your Sunday Quote of July 11, 2021. I appreciate your very sound advice and do hope you do not mind me adding a few other suggestions for helping relieve stress. I have been in veterinary medical practice for over 48 years and as a veterinary surgeon and and emergency and critical care specialist for over 30 of those. The very most important thing for me is prayer. Our Father in Heaven loves each one of us so much. All you have to do is turn each problem or stressor over to Him. Yes, meditation is fine, and it helps relieve stress but I do hope you consider laying all your problems before the feet of Jesus. As you wrote, “Feeling discomfort is part of life. When I read this I hope you do not mind me adding what I did. As it says in the Bible: God so loved the world (that is each snd every one of us) that he gave his only son (Jesus) that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16. And as I have found out this “everlasting life” begins at the very moment you accept Jesus as your personal savior, ask for forgiveness of your sins – as we have all sinned, from even just doing one thing wrong), and then actually live for Him.

I hope you did not find any of what I said offensive. For more on this hope you will just go to YouTube and listen to the song, “People Need the Lord” by Phil McHugh and Greg Nelson, and for those that need more proof of God and his Son Jesus please watch the videos by James Tour PhD. He is one of the most brilliant scientists of all times.

God bless you and I pray for all in Vetetinary Medicine. It’s such an amazing profession. You are all helping God’s creatures, all of them, great and small, as He loved them all. Each of them have a soul and we’re given life by Him. There is a very special book called “Heaven”. I suggest everyone read it. You will find just how special each and every one of you really are.
