Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! I want to tell you about my weekend! You see, Mom went away for three days for what  she said was a “much needed getaway.” I don’t know why she needs to get away, because I think our life here is just purrfect, but I do understand that humans sometimes need a change of scenery.

Before things got weird in the world out there, Mom used to go away every couple of months, and I got used to not having her here all the time, but she hadn’t been anywhere since last September, so this was a big deal. But my Aunt Rita came to take care of me twice a day, and I slept for most of the rest of the time, so the time went by fast.

I love my Aunt Rita. She doesn’t just feed me and give me my medications, she plays with me, too! We had a good time together, and she sent Mom photos of me. I know Mom likes that, because she misses me, too.

When Mom came back Sunday evening, I was so happy! I rolled over for her and kissed her, and I even let her pick me up and hug me, which is not something I often allow. Mom seemed very relaxed and felt lighter to me, so I know she needed this getaway, and I’m happy for her.

A note from Ingrid: I am blessed to have friends who have a beautiful weekend home a couple of hours south of here. It’s nestled in a beautiful, wooded area with a view of the Potomac River. We had a wonderful time just relaxing on their screened-in porch, taking their boat out on the river, and eating delicious food. Since travel in general, especially flying, doesn’t feel safe to me right now, this was such a great way to have a little mini vacation. And at the end of it, I was as glad to get back to Allegra as she was to have me home again!

  1. I know how hard it is to leave our babies, but you needed the time out as most of us do. I have been in for 18 months and counting, I go out once a week to volunteer with my cat rescue, which is my way of getting out of it.

I know how happy Allegro was to see you and you her!
When my baby was alive and I went to visit my son 2 years ago, he was sooo happy to see me and his motor was going so loud. brought tears to my eyes. I loved him so much and he loved me.

  2. Ingrid, So glad you had a wonderful break to recharge your batteries. So, Allegra, how many times did you view “Home Alone”?? Your mommy missed you more than you know.
