cats-birdwatching

Even though Ruby has been gone more than two years after being diagnosed with advanced kidney disease, I still miss my little girl so much, it actually feels like a physical ache sometimes. I’m grateful I have eight years of Ruby’s Reflections on this site to comfort me and remind me of some of the cute things she did when the pain hits, and I love sharing the memories with you.

Today’s memory takes us back to December 2011, Ruby’s first winter with us. Every fall, I put up birdfeeders in my yard. Allegra, being the good big sister that she was, made sure Ruby understood what birdwatching was all about.

Read Allegra, Ruby and the Birdfeeder to hear the girls chatter about birds, and for a super cute video of Ruby watching birds.

8 Comments on Remembering Ruby: That Time When Allegra Taught Ruby About Birdwatching

  1. I like how Allegra told Ruby that she likes her dinner in a bowl, all nice and ready to eat. Smart girl. I’ve noticed that over the summer there have been less birds around here in NJ where I live. I wonder if it is due to the bird flu.?

    • Wasn’t there some mystery bird disease in the Northeast this spring? People were asked to take down birdfeeders for a while to stop the spread? I suppose that could account for a decline in the bird population.

  2. This was a fun memory. I bet Ruby did enjoy seeing the wildlife up close and learning what each one was. Allegra was a good big sister teaching her about them.
