Putting Answers to the test
The food arrives frozen on dry ice. Thawing a one pound carton took a little over 24 hours. According to Answers, you can keep thawed food in the refrigerator for up to seven days. You can refreeze the food after thawing if one pound is more than you’ll feed in one week.
The first thing you’ll notice when you open a carton is that it has a noticeable, somewhat pungent smell. That smell is due to the lactic-acid in the formulas.
We received the chicken, turkey and duck formulas. The texture is a pate style texture similar to other raw foods. I wish I could report that Allegra loved this food, but she just wasn’t very interested in it.
I’m going to keep trying to offer it to her, because I like so many things about this food. I especially like that the chicken, turkey and duck formulas are organic. Organic raw food is hard to find. I think this is a great option if you’re looking for a quality raw food for your cats, and I’d encourage you to give it a try.
