Cats are always the purrfect cure. That’s the premise of We’ll Prescribe You a Cat, a novel about humans with a variety of emotional problems who experience the healing power of cats. And is this not the cutest book cover?
From the publisher:
Tucked away in an old building at the end of a narrow alley in Kyoto, the Kokoro Clinic for the Soul can only be found by people who are struggling in their lives and genuinely need help. The mysterious clinic offers a unique treatment to those who find their way there: it prescribes cats as medication. Patients are often puzzled by this unconventional prescription, but when they “take” their cat for the recommended duration, they witness profound transformations in their lives, guided by the playful, empathetic, occasionally challenging yet endearing cats.
The central theme of this book is the bond between cat and human, and how it always has a positive impact on human lives. Heartwarming, hopeful, uplifting, sometimes thought provoking, you will no doubt recognize elements of your own connections with your cats, both past and present.
Even though I found it a bit slow going at times, I enjoyed this sweet and quirky book. This is not the kind of book you’ll read end to end quickly (or at least, I didn’t,) but rather, a book to be savored as it celebrates the enduring love between cats and humans.
We’ll Prescribe You a Cat is available from Amazon.

Thank you for that review…I look forward to reading it.
The libraries just got it in and it is already on hold or on order
The synopsis reminds me of people going to the cat cafes to play with the cats. Some people go because they love cats but can’t have them in their home.
The book sounds interesting. All the cats that I have had, had helped me in so many ways from greeting me when I came home to love and support when one of my cats have passed away. As anniversaries of their birthdays, adoption, and passing come and go, I dedicate the day and honor their memories and lives and what they meant to me. I look forward to reading this book.
I can not live without the unconditional love of Tasha.
Sounds really good. I know the cats that I have had through my life have been the best ones to give me comfort when I needed it most.
