Today would have been Ruby’s 14th birthday, and as is often the case with these special days, I miss my precious girl even more today than I usually do. I don’t think I’ll ever come to terms with the fact that she died so young. It makes me sad that I never got to experience her as a senior kitty. She had so much life left to live, so many more years of irritating her big sister, and so many more tuna cakes to enjoy.
Today is also the second anniversary of this website!
A huge, heartfelt thank you to all of you who have stayed with me after I made the difficult decision a year ago to pass The Conscious Cat on to its new home, and a warm welcome and thank you to all the new subscribers we keep adding every day. Over the last two years, Purrs of Wisdom has grown faster than I could have imagined. I love continuing to bring you all the latest information about feline health, nutrition, behavior and lifestyle, as well as product and book reviews and our popular Sunday Quotes, featuring beautiful images of cats along with inspurrational quotes.
A word from Allegra
Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! I want to thank all of you, too! I love that Mom is working slightly fewer hours than she used to, although she still spends way more time on the computer than I’d like her to. I do my best to help her with her work. I sometimes write my own column. I also help her with product reviews, which is so much fun! Most importantly, I make sure Mom takes enough breaks, although I have yet to teach her how to nap. Humans just don’t get how important naps are! But right now I have to make sure the tuna cake we’re going to have later is ready, so back to Mom, who has something exciting to tell you!

I’m sorry that Ruby only lived to be fourteen. My first cat died early into her senior years too. I’m hoping I get to experience my current cats for many years as seniors.
My cats and I have started to ocassionally take naps together. I hope you’ll have allow yourself that pleasure with Allegra. We’re all slowly down, and those breaks are important!
I always get sad on this day. I forgot she was so young when she passed. She was such a beautiful girl. Torture are such special cats.

This is a special day for honoring and celebrating Ruby on her birthday. After reading all of Ruby’s Reflections, I felt as if I knew her. She was so loving and full of life which makes anniversaries so bittersweet.
Big congratulations on the 2 year anniversary of Purrs of Wisdom. It is my go-to blog for all cat related and has helped me in so many ways. I am currently reading about Ruby and Allegra’s trip to the dentist to learn when I take my cat Gus to the dentist next month for teeth extractions.

I still celebrate my Gabie’s and my Piper’s birthdays, too. When Gabie passed, I planted a pink curcuma ginger plant in the middle of the landscaping behind the pool. It blooms every summer. I thought the flower was so pretty that I added 3 at the east end of the pool. They grow and spread by rhizomes and the east end ones have done just that, now producing at least 5 flower stalks every year. But the Gabie fleur still comes up as a single, beautiful flower! That’s so like her! Definitely an only cat. So, happy birthday, Ruby, and glad you and Allegra are continuing her tuna cake tradition.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years already. And what a bitter-sweet day it is. Remembering sweet Ruby, but also celebrating the anniversary of this blog. I hope Allegra can teach you to nap soon. I cuddle every afternoon with Lulu and Kiki for a nap.
