When Sally Williams founded Mission Meow two years ago, she had a vision. She wanted to help increase the level of charitable donations for small feline-centric nonprofits and create meaningful change for cats in need.

A unique business model to help cats

Sally is no stranger to non-profit work. She was the founder and executive director of The Brodie Fund, which offered financial assistance to families that had pets diagnosed with cancer. She is passionate about helping cats, and she has a unique ability to think outside the box, which is how she came up with Mission Meow’s business model.

Mission Meow puts together a group of businesses who contribute a quarterly donation. Every month, those donations are combined, and an organization is selected to receive the donation. The recipient will be thoroughly vetted through their application process, and donors will know exactly where the donation funds are being allocated.

Celebrating two years of success

Two years later, Mission Meow has 65 business partners, whose contributions have resulted in 12 grants totaling almost $110,000. Individual grants range from $5000 to $20,000.The grants have made improvements for small non-profits possible, among them

  • a building for TNR spay/neuter recovery
  • a clinic for a rescue, including exams tables, shelving, test kits, vaccines, incubators, nebulizers, new plumbing and electric
  • supplies for launching a foster program
  • traps, feral cat dens, and recovery cages to expand TNR programs
  • building renovations including fire alert systems
  • washer/dryers
  • new floors & doors

In 2023, Mission Meow launched a monthly mentorship program offering an hour long coaching session with an expert in TNR, fostering or sheltering for non-profits.

In talking to Sally, you can’t help but be inspired by her passion and enthusiasm for her work. Her favorite part of her job is telling each organization that they have have been chosen to get a grant. “One day, I got to make three calls to three nonprofit leaders,” said Sally. “One screamed at the top of her lungs and immediately shared the news with her board and volunteers at their table at an event. The second burst into tears of joy and had to pull her car over to keep talking.” Sally thought the last call had cut out as there was silence after she made her announcement, but when she asked if the woman was still on the line, her response was “I am at a complete loss for words. I never ever imaged our tiny organization would be selected for a grant. I can’t tell you how much this means to be chosen and validated for the work we do”. These calls push Sally to work even harder than she already is.

Help Mission Meow celebrate and support their mission

Mission Meow will celebrate this milestone with a mega raffle. Sally will also celebrate in purrson at three different conventions in October: the Catsbury Park Convention in Holmdel, NJ, the CFA International Cat Show and Expo in Cleveland, OH, and Space Cats in Cocoa Beach, FL. If you’re at one of these conventions, be sure to stop by Mission Meow’s booth and congratulate Sally!
