Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! You may know from reading one of Mom’s Sunday posts earlier this month that she was really hoping for some snow. Well, she got her snow, and then some!
Two weeks ago, we got a really decent amount of snow. Mom says it was about six inches. I wouldn’t know, all I know is that it was really white outside all of a sudden. And Mom seemed really happy.
I was watching her from the window, and she was pushing the snow around on our driveway and sidewalks. I’m not sure why she did that, it looked so nice all white and fresh, but she said she had to do it so she could get her car out of the garage. I don’t know why that’s important. I like when she doesn’t go anywhere!

Anyway, after we got that first snow, it got really cold, so that snow wasn’t going to go away anytime soon, which made Mom happy. She said she likes how bright our living room and bedroom looks when the sun is out and there’s snow on the ground. I have to admit, it did seem to enhance the quality of my sun puddles.
It also made for some great bird watching!

Last Sunday, we got a little bit more snow, and ever since then it’s been seriously cold. Mom was outside again trying to push the snow around, but this time, I heard her saying bad words. She said it was pretty much all ice, and it was really hard to move around, but she said it was important to try to clear it so nobody would slip and fall on it. That didn’t make any sense to me. Why would anyone want to go outside when it’s so cold?
I think the best way to spend a cold day is like this:

Kitties, did you get snow where you are? Were your humans happy about it, or did they use bad words?

I used to live in the N. VA area for over 20 yrs. There were many times where everything was closed, even the metro and buses closed. I had to go to work. I ended up wrecking my car, had to buy a new car. We had several big snow storms while I was living there.
We definitely do not know how to drive in snow in this area, Sandy! I was fortunate that I never had to go anywhere during storms, which is probably why I love snow. If I had to drive in it, I’d sing a different tune!
Allegra, Hello! Maisie here. Yes! We have a ton of snow this year! Winter is a favorite season bc we ( me, Margaret and Maybelline) all love the cozy feeling the snow gives our house. Our Mom stays home a lot bc she says the roads are too slick. We watch birds in the day and rabbits at night at the feeder. Mom says the snow makes Winter special. Stay cozy! Your friend, Maisie
Allegra says she thinks Maisie has the right idea about winter!
In New Jersey we got 5 inches of snow. Then it got FRIGID COLD. Mom cranked up the heat and we were snug as a bug in a rug. Mom was happy to stay home and watch the You Tube.
I think kitties probably like this frigid cold because their humans stay in!
The snow is pretty to look at, but we rarely get it here. You have the right idea, snuggle in bed or the sun puddles to stay warm. Make sure to give your mommy extra cuddles when she comes in from outside. she needs you to warm her up.

Allegra says she’s been doing a good job as a lap warmer!
Hi Allegra, my kitties and I live in Wilmington, North Carolina, in the southeastern corner of NC on the coast. It *never* snows here, but we got 3” on Tuesday night! My two younger kitties, Raven and Piseag (“kitten” in Gaelic), got to experience snow for the very first time, as it even blew into the screened porch! My older girl, Ceann Ruadh (“red head”) is from Vermont, so it didn’t bother her a bit. And it’s really cold here, too, so it’s sticking around.
Catherine,
We live in Wilmington, NC, too. Our four kitties want to stay on the bed forever. They do not want to put their paws on the cold floor. Their boxes are in the garage (doesn’t open.) They stuck their noses out the door and looked at me and said, “You are kidding me! I can’t go out in that cold and put my paws on cement to get there!” If they are really desperate, there is a box inside in the bathroom.
That’s truly amazing that the NC coast got snow. I saw some photos of snow in the Outer Banks!
I am not a fan of snow. We got abt 2 inches with lots of freezing rain. I don’t drive in the snow, too many crazies. In central NC, people stock up on groceries, propane, etc. They don’t plow the roads everywhere, only major roads. They closed school, non essential govt employees stay home, school was even closed the day b4 it snowed, crazy. I hope your Mom is careful when shoveling and does not over do. Please be careful.
Good Morning Allegra!
You are so beautiful! We here in Danbury CT rec’d 4 Inches of snow!
Wow, we got more snow in the DC area than you guys got in CT!
