I really try to appreciate every living creature and try not to harm even the ones that I’d rather not see inside my home. I gently evacuate spiders, and I try to relocate crickets. But when it comes to stink bugs, all bets are off. Even though these nasty little critters actually play a somewhat redeeming role in ecosystems, I simply can’t bring myself to catch and release them. When I saw the first stink bug of the season the other day, I immediately remembered the time when my little Ruby had a much too close encounter with one.
When I saw her acting all weird and freaked out one day, I couldn’t figure out what in the world had happened until I managed to catch her and pick her up, and got a whiff of her breath.
But why don’t you read how she told everyone about her adventure.

I don’t love the stink bugs.
They are awful, aren’t they?
I had to rescue a June bug this morning. Lu was after it., so I had to grab it quick and toss it outside.
Good job, Janine! I’m sure Lu wasn’t pleased, though.
