Allegra-cream-cheese

Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! I want to tell you about something new I discovered recently when Mom was preparing her lunch.

I always supervise when Mom makes lunch, because you never know when something interesting might come out of the fridge or a cabinet. I sit politely by her feet, but when she doesn’t pay attention to me, I meow once or twice to let her know that I’m watching her. One day, I must have sounded particularly pitiful, because she stuck her finger into this tub of white stuff and let me lick it.

Oh my Cat, that stuff was so delicious! Rich and creamy and even though it stuck to my nose, I didn’t care. It was soooo good!

So now I use the pitiful meow every time Mom makes lunch. And because Mom is the best, she gives me a little bit of cream cheese even on days when it’s not part of her lunch.

A note from Ingrid: As you can see in the second video, I only give Allegra a tiny little bit of cream cheese. Any more than that, I’d worry about it causing GI issues, and we’ve got enough of those already. But how can I say no to that sweet face!

Kitties, have you ever tasted cream cheese?

  1. Have not tried cream cheese, but I have one who SCREAMS for blue cheese, Feta cheese, cheddar cheese and lettuce. Not sure I want to introduce anything more!
By the way, what else is in that lunch with the cream cheese?

  2. SapphoLily loves cheese! Every Saturday night, she gets a tiny bit of shredded mozzarella or mild cheddar on top of her wet dinner. And we always have some cans of wet food that has cheese in it for special occasions or anytime she seems to want a different food. When she first appeared in our yard, we saw her trying to eat the bird seed in a ground feeder bowl I had out for the crows (they keep the hawks from eating the doves off our hanging platform feeders). I had cut up some cheddar cheese into tiny pieces for a recipe and had put out the leftover pieces in the crows’ bowl. Sappho was out there eating the cheese! We put some cottage cheese and tuna in a bowl and put that out for her. She was too afraid to come in the patio, so we put the bowl outside. She ate every morsel, and I think her love of cheese–and us– began that night. She is now delighted to be a house cat, with air conditioning, fresh food and water, heated beds, a view of the crows and the doves, grooming, toys, and lots of love, and she still LOVES CHEESE! Perhaps she associates cheese with salvation, or maybe cheese just tastes really, really good–or both!

  3. Mmmm…… That’s some good stuff. My meowmy doesn’t have cream cheese in the house often, but she does have yogurt.
