Whether your kids are human or feline,
enjoy your special day!

Father’s Day can be bittersweet for those of us whose fathers are no longer with us. It’s sometimes hard to believe that my dad has been gone for 21 years. Even so, I still get a little sad each year when Father’s Day comes around.

The photo above is one of my absolute favorite photos of my dad. Can’t you just feel the love? I think it’s safe to say that nobody else in my life ever has loved me or will ever love me as much as he did.

I’m not sure how old I am in this photo, maybe a year or so?

One specific memory of my dad always comes back to me right around Father’s Day. It still makes me cry each time I remember it. When I was four or five years old, we vacationed at a lake with a rocky beach. My dad would get up every morning and remove all the rocks from a small section of the beach so his little girl would have a sandy beach to play on. My dad literally  moved the earth for me to make me happy!

  1. And your dad sounds so very special in so many ways. Indeed it is bittersweet when this day comes around.

  2. My dad was such a great cat lover and instilled that in me. He made up Ancient Egyptian bedtime stories with me as a princess rescuing a cat from the Nile who then went on to warn us of a Hittite invasion.

  3. Ingrid, that was so sweet! I loved the story about your dad moving the earth for you. My Dad has been gone for 11 years, and I miss him too! He was able to do/fix almost anything. Thanks for sharing! God Bless wonderful fathers!
