Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! Today is my birthday! I’m 16 years old today!

Mom has a really hard time wrapping her mind around the fact that I’m a senior kitty. In human years, I’m 80. Hey, I’m a lot older than Mom!

But while I may have slowed down a bit, and while I’m dealing with a bunch of health issues, I still love my life. I sleep more than I used to, but I still love watching what’s happening outside our windows. I still like to play some. But most of all, I love sitting on mom’s lap when she reads or watches TV. Mom says that’s the best part of her day, and it is the best part of mine, too.

I know Mom is having a hard time seeing some of the changes in me, but I think  I’ve aged well, if I do say so myself. The birthday photo at the top of this post was taken a couple of weeks ago. I was about a year old in the photo below. What do you think?

Mom says this birthday is called “Sweet Sixteen,” and we’re going to have a sweet day together. We’re not going to think about how old I am. Instead, we’re going to celebrate my special day. And we’re going to treasure every day that we have together as a gift.

I’m sure Ruby will be celebrating with us in spirit, so we better make sure there’s tuna cake!

  2. Happy belated birthday Allegra! Three of our cats are seniors and they also love to mostly sit on our laps. We agree that this is a special time. Yes, you’ve aged well! Enjoy your tuna cake. I hope you have many more birthdays!

  10. Happy Birthday gorgeous girl! Our tortie Ursula is also 16 with several health issues but is still bossy, ruling the house and looking fab. Looking forward to wishing you happy birthday next year.
