The Venerable Monks have almost reached Washington DC on their 2,300 mile walk from Ft. Worth, TX. I’ve been following their walk via their daily updates on the Walk for Peace Facebook page and Aloka The Peace Dog’s Facebook page. I check in several times a day, and often find myself moved to tears by the photos and videos.
I’ve been watching the nightly live stream of the the Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara’s peace talks. He is a mesmerizing speaker, offering simple but profound teachings about mindfulness, often with a dose of humor. I’m following his advice to start each day by writing down “Today is going to be my peaceful day” and then reading it out loud. I also repeat it to myself throughout the day as a reminder to be mindful.
I have found this small practice transformational after only a few days. I encourage you to give it a try.

Yes, today is going to be a peaceful day. My husband is finally home from the hospital.
I’m so glad he’s home, Janine. All my best for a quick recovery!
