Allegra-kitchen

Hi everyone! It’s Allegra! I want to tell you about some silly name Mom made up for me the other day: she calls me her little kitchen monster!

At first I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I mean, I’m not a monster! But she says it with such affection, so I figured it must be a good thing. So let me tell you how this all came about.

When Mom makes her lunch, I always follow her into the kitchen. Even though I’m not much for people food, I still find it interesting to watch. And she always gives me a little treat: I get my favorite fish oil. It’s yummy, and it’s good for me, too! Sometime she gets so involved with preparing her lunch, I have to remind her about my treat with a very loud meow. And guess what: it works every single time.

Well, if it works at lunch, maybe it will work at other times during the day, too? Like when she goes and makes her mid-morning or afternoon latte? So I started going into the kitchen with her for that, too. And I make sure I make my presence known. At first Mom said I can’t have too much of the fish oil, but eventually, she gave in and gave me a few more drops. Score!

So now, just to make sure, I go into the kitchen with her every time she does. And that’s when she started calling me her little kitchen monster! And guess what: every single time, she gives me a couple of drops of my fish oil. Seems to me that she’s the one who created this monster.

Kitties, do you beg for treats? Do your humans give in easily?

A word from Ingrid: I know I’m setting a terrible example, giving in to Allegra with a little treat every single time. To make sure she doesn’t get too much fish oil (it can cause diarrhea), I’ve reduced the dose she gets with her morning meds so that over the course of the day, she still only gets what she’s supposed to.

And seriously, who could resist that face?

  1. You have your mama trained right. Recently my daddy has started eating yogurt at night and mom will have some ice cream at the same time. Now I don’t know who to beg a taste from since I love both.

We’ll Allegra ….. I do the same with my two boys. And of course, they now except treats all the time. Like Mom, am a soft touch.

    • Allegra, you don’t sound like a kitchen monster, just following your Mom around because you love her…..you are her shadow! Enjoy the treats
