My 2025 Cat Book of the Year was the 6-book Leafwood Fall series by Brooke Skie. I was delighted when the novella The Snowbound Bookshop, the seventh installment in what appears to be an open ended series, came out last week.
When a Vermont blizzard leaves a wedding photographer and a divorce lawyer stranded inside Oak & Ink, Leafwood Falls’ beloved bookshop, which has a habit of knowing what people need before they do, they have nothing in common except a cancelled wedding, a large opinionated cat named Hemingway, and one very long night ahead of them.
I used to apologize for my love of romance novels, because it just seemed that I should be reading more “serious” books. And I do. But when it comes to simply being entertained and escaping reality for a little while, I think there’s nothing better than a romance novel. And if it features a cat? Even better!
The town of Leafwood Falls exudes charm at any time of the year, whether it’s winter, spring, summer or fall. It is populated with immensely likeable human characters, many of them owners of adorable stores along the town’s charming main street. As is the case with previous books in the series, this one also features Hemingway, an opinionated bookstore cat cat who always has his paws in the story.
The Snowbound Bookshop is available from Amazon. It can be read as a standalone novella, but why not treat yourself to the entire series?

I have only read one book in this series so far. But I want to read more soon.
