You’ve heard me rave about the Knead Therapeutic Bed for quite some time now, and I know many of you have purchased it and love it for your cats. And just in time for warmer weather, Knead has come out with a new version of this bed: the Knead Orthopedic Bed. We’ve been looking forward to get this bed so we could review it for you.
Same great bed, without the heat
The bed is made from human grade memory foam. The shape is designed to purrfectly cradle feline bodies, reduce joint pain and protect long-term joint mobility.

Basically, this bed has all the features of the original Therapeutic Bed, without the heating element.
Developed by veterinarians
The bed was developed with veterinarians, and the amount of thought that went into the design is testament to the fact that these people know cats. A Citrus Lab study of the heated bed showed that 76% of the cats participating in the study showed improvement after using the bed for six weeks.
The study results were remarkable:
- 82% of participants observed a decrease in their cats’ pain.
- 75 % were back to pouncing and playing.
- More than 70% took pride in their appearance again. (A lack of grooming can be a sign of pain.)
One-year warranty and a generous return policy
If you’re on the fence about either of the Knead beds because you’re worried that your cats may not like them, Knead’s generous return policy should put your mind at ease. All pet bedding can be returned within 30 days from the date of purchase, provided the product is in its original condition. All returns are subject to a $15.00 processing fee. Knead will donate the returned beds. Knead beds come with a one year warranty for manufacturer defects.

My take on the Knead Orthopedic Bed
The well thought out design and therapeutic features make this bed an investment in your cat’s comfort and well-being. Allegra goes back and forth between this bed and her beloved Lola blanket basket right now. I expect that as it gets warmer, she’ll gravitate more and more toward the Knead bed. I know the supportive design will benefit her even without heat.

My cats would probably still use the heated one even in the summer. But it’s nice they make options for cats that might want the cooler bed.
