Unfortunately, my state allows neighborhood fireworks. Thankfully, Allegra isn’t bothered by them nearly as much as she used to be. If fireworks are an issue where you live, plan ahead so you can make the holiday as stress free as possible for you cats.

I had a mainecoon that looked like Allegra just long haired. I miss her so much and it has been seven years since she died. I cry almost everyday and just pray someday I can stop and just be happy that I had her for the time I did. Allegra and the color of her hair was just like my kitty. It’s a shame this has become a dreaded day for many of us pet owners! Our area allows fireworks and we are also inundated with illegal fireworks as well which are so much louder. My senior kitty hides under the bed and my poor dogs have to be medicated and are still terrified. I really do hate what it’s become, so different from when I was young.

Happy 4th! Fireworks are illegal in neighborhoods in my county, but it doesn’t stop people from shooting them off. last night I had just fed my strays and was looking at the window, watching them eat, when I started hearing the booms close by. The poor cats got scared and one ran off before finishing her food. I dread tonight and will be feeding them earlier in hopes they can have a quiet meal.
Hope you had a Happy July 4th. Fireworks are not allowed because of our severe drought. However, people were shooting them. I called the Sheriff, they did nothing. I coukd hear dogs barking. I wish they would be outlawed but could only be allowed at city, state and fed govt events. It is mot just pets, it is wildlife as well.
I hope everything has settled down again and your strays are having quiet meals again.
