I really try to appreciate every living creature and try not to harm even the ones that I’d rather not see inside my home. I gently evacuate spiders, and I try to relocate crickets. But when it comes to stink bugs, all bets are off. Even though these nasty little critters actually play a somewhat redeeming role in ecosystems, I simply can’t bring myself to catch and release them. It seems impossible that it’s been over four years since I had to let Ruby go. As I’m watching Allegra in her senior years (she’ll be 15 in August, how is that even possible!) I feel cheated that I never got to watch my little Ruby girl grow old. I still miss her every single day.
