Staying grounded is critical to your mental health at any time, but especially now. If you’re not familiar with the concept, grounding yourself means bringing yourself into the present moment.

There are a lot of different ways to accomplish that. It can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths. It can be accomplished with meditation, and with any number of other exercises. For me, the quickest way to get grounded is to remind myself to feel my feet on the floor. This articles offers a long list of grounding exercises, see if anything resonates with you.

Georgia LaCroix, an Energy Healer practicing at the Cardinal Center for Healing in Fairfax, VA, offered the following message on why grounding is so important right now. I found it extremely helpful.

“Like a mechanical bull, the world and life can throw you. It is doing so now. Your job is to see how centered, how grounded and how balanced you can be despite the rough ride. All that is happening serves to have you discover your core (heart) strength. The divide is deep and the pull is strong in so many opposing directions. Whom to believe, what to think, whom to trust, whom to malign. All this serves only to widen the divide within you. By chasing after truth “out there” you miss the opportunity to find the truth within. How to find it within? You must stop. Stop trying. Stop listening to that which disturbs. Stop allowing yourself to be taken over. Sit, breathe, and listen to the beat of your heart.”

What helps you stay grounded and in the present moment?
