I’m not much of party girl, so New Year’s Eve has always been a quiet day of reflection for me. I look back over the past year, and set some intentions for the coming year. If you’re going out to celebrate, please be safe.

2021 was a pretty good year for Allegra and me. We’re both healthy and safe, and even though the pandemic rages on, at least vaccines have given me the ability to safely gather with and hug my friends again. There are still a lot of things I loved to do that I’m not comfortable resuming yet, and I still wonder whether life will ever return to normal, but compared to 2020, this was a much better year!

I’ve never been much of a planner, and if the last two years have taught me anything, it’s that you need to treasure every moment you have with your loved ones, because you never know when it’s all going to change. And maybe that’s the only intention we need for 2022: live in the moment, and hold your loved ones close.

I wish you a safe and Happy New Year’s Eve and a very Happy New Year.

  1. I just got to my email, and no I don’t have a hangover, I was celebrating my Shabbat weekend services. But, Ingrid, I sure do love that photo and promo about drinking and driving, and that cat is such a darling. Everyone who is going out to celebrate, please heed that message, but I hope everyone has a rip roaring good time ringing in 2022.

  2. Thank you, Ingrid.
For the reminder. This really says it all.
I hope that you and Allegra have a healthy New Year full of love and Joy.

  3. May 2022 be a wonderful, happy, healthy, and prosperous year for you, dear Ingrid and sweet Allegra! Ingrid, your blog has brought me so much joy in the past year that I can’t thank you enough. Please know that I read it daily and find it a blessing! Peace.

  4. Ingrid . . . much love to you and Allegra for a Happy 2022. Thank you, thank you, thank you . . . for all you do to help us better understand and care for our fur babies! Your dedication to bring us The Conscious Cat every day is much appreciated.

  5. happy 2022! Sorry for the question but i have been searching google to no answers:

everytime someone in my house falls, my cat attacks us.

so like, I fell down the stairs this morning and she ran up to attack me, scratched me several times. She has done this before too.

How can we address this behavior? Just not fall? Normally she only sometimes swipes at our pants if theyre a bit too swishy but this is kind of dangerous.

  6. Wishing you and Allegra a Happy, Healthy New Year. I love the photo you have up with the : “Please don’t drink and drive. She won’t understand why you’re not coming home.” I wish there were bumper stickers with that to put on my car and give to others as reminders.
