Happy Independence Day

Please keep your cats safe during the festivities. A cat’s sense of hearing is much more acute than ours, and so the noises are much more intent for them. Add to that the lack of understanding of what is going on and you can have a very scared cat on your hands. Here are some tips for helping your cat cope with fireworks, thunderstorms, and other loud noises:
- Create a safe space for your cat. If you’re having a party, unless your cat is very social and doesn’t mind a lot of commotion, keep her confined to a quiet bedroom. Put her favorite blanket, bed or toys in with her, along with a litter box and fresh water. Shut the curtains and drapes and turn on lights to lessen the flash of the fireworks.
- Leave on a TV or music to drown out the noise from the fireworks. (This works during thunderstorm season as well.)
- Make sure that your cats are wearing their identification tags and that the information is current.
- Consider a natural calming aid like Stress Stopper, Rescue Remedy, or Composure calming treats.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday. Fireworks are starting around my neighborhood. Allegra is dosed with Stress Stopper and doesn’t seem too worried yet. Ruby is sitting by the window – she wants a close up view of the action!
Allegra and Ruby are so patriotic!! They look awesome accented by the red, white and blue. We won’t be celebrating Independence Day here because I won’t be able to get the cats out from under the bed.

Happy 4th Girls!! You’ve had quite a crazy past few days, what with losing power and all. We hope you are settled back in and that today’s fireworks dont upset you too much!!
My cats will enjoy the fourth here in CO. Most fireworks shows have been cancelled because of the recent wildfires. We are going to cook hamburgers inside and have them with all the fixings and cherry pie. Of course Princess and Queenie will get some hamburger too.
I also am going to do laundry so that will be a hit with the cats too!
Happy 4th girls! No fireworks here this year, but we had a storm last night that more than made up for it. We’re resting today and enjoying a day at home!
Same here Bernadette – and we got hail this afternoon! We’ll be spending the evening at home. Hopefully, the neighborhood fireworks will be minimal.
