5 Best Cat Products of 2023

I see a lot of new products each year, and I try to share as many of the good ones with you as I can. And of course, Allegra has been busy helping me review many of them for you throughout the year. With so many products, it’s really hard to choose only five favorites, but with the help of my little product tester, we’ve come up with our list of the five best for this year, listed in no particular order.

Vitakraft Puzzler Treat Dispensing Toy

Puzzle toys are a great way to keep your cat entertained and stimulated when you can’t play with them. The Vitakraft Puzzler is a wobbling bowl that you fill with treats. It comes with a bag of Vitakraft’s Meaty Morsel treats, a semi-soft treat that is 70% meat and contains no artificial flavors or colors. Allegra loves this toy and plays with it every day. She doesn’t care for semi-moist treats, so I use freeze dried chicken treats in it.

Cheerble Wicked Mouse Plus

This rechargeable electronic toy is well designed with two interaction and speed modes. It moves randomly and works on both hard and soft surfaces. Much to my surprise, it has become a favorite for Allegra, who, up until now, was never all that interested in electronic toys.

Snuffle Mat

The Snuffle Mat is designed to provide mental and physical stimulation to fight boredom, encourage play, and even stimulate your cat’s natural hunting instinct. Made from 50% organic cotton and sustainably sourced 50% polyester, the mat measures 22 by 15.75 inches. It can be machine washed in cold water and tumbled dried on a low setting. All you have to do is bury treats or toys in the mat and let your cat have fun!

OKSOU Air Purifiers

While air purifiers aren’t technically a cat product, they are an important part of keeping a healthy home, which is why they end up on my “best” list every year. These well-designed air purifiers capture 99.97% of air pollutants like pet hair and dander, dust, pollen, and smoke. They eliminate household odors as small as 0.25 microns, and they safely breaks down various harmful gases, such as formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene and VOC’s (volatile organic compounds.) And they work great on all sorts of smells, from cooking odors to smelly litter box deposits.

February 2024 Update: It appears that OKSOU, formerly Okaysou, has gone out of business. Their website no longer exists, and I have been unable to get in touch with my marketing contact. The good news is this almost identical air purifiers are available on Amazon from Levoit.

Ripple Rug Cat Activity Mat

This fantastic activity mat channels your cat’s hunting instinct into both solo and interactive play, providing endless fun for both cat and human. It consists of two pieces of rug, with the bottom portion being solid, and the top portion featuring 14 holes of varying sizes. The top portion attaches to the bottom with velcro fasteners so it can be shaped into various 3-D shapes. The bottom rug provides a stable foundation, making it slip-free.
