Last week, I shared my choices for the five best cat products of the year. It was really hard to pick just one product from all of these, and it really came down to picking between two products that Allegra enjoys playing with every day: the Wicked Mouse Plus, and the Vitakraft Puzzler Treat Dispensing Toy.

Our choice for Cat Product of the Year is:

The Vitakraft Puzzler Treat Dispensing Toy

Vitakraft-Puzzler

The Vitakraft Puzzler is a wobbling bowl that you fill with treats. It comes with a bag of Vitakraft’s Meaty Morsel treats, a semi-soft treat that is 70% meat and contains no artificial flavors or colors.

Since Allegra doesn’t care for semi-moist treats, I use freeze dried chicken treats instead. When I first started using the toy, it took her a while to figure it out, and initially she got frustrated and stopped trying. I put the toy away for a couple of days, and when I brought it out again, she immediately tried again – and that time, it didnt take her long to figure it out. Now she chirps and dances around me when she sees me fill the Vitakraft Puzzler with treats, and she can’t wait for me to put it on the floor.

The Vitakraft Puzzler toy is available from Amazon.

  1. This from a friend…I am hoping she will get a video of her cat, who I know well. :—

James eats all of his dry food from a dispenser egg. He LOVES it. If I put a bit of dry in his dish and then fill the egg he immediately abandons the dish for the egg.

  2. Allegra is so smart to be able to figure out the treat puzzler. I tried one with my girls and they could smell the treats, but wouldn’t even try to get them out. They just looked at me with sad eyes until I put the treat out where they could get to them easier.
